Alien Invasion

My Megatron demands my attention

On and Off the Needles

Finished a Mini Alien by Barbara Prime, using some old sock yarn. Mom took him to give him antennas and then give him to someone. I have started another one going in blue and orange have added antennas and got some stuffing in him, just need to close him up and give him some eyes and a nose or mouth.

Finishing up a pair of fingerless gloves for me in Lion Brand sock ease.

Also have to see about finishing up a mini Meadow Flowers Shawl for my niece Lena. The body is done but I still need to try and do the edging.

Behind the Wheel
So fixed the wheel last week got some spinning done. Some I might have to redo in order for it to be ready when I see about Kool Aid dying it this summer. Though I suppose I could try it inside the house, then again maybe not.

vests, shrugs and more

Well it's been awhile since I've posted and for anyone who checks my blog I am sorry.

Let's see. I've done a few pairs of fingerless gloves, consigned at Bazaar Girls, and now clothes Horse. One red hot pair sold at Bazaar girls, and I think the purple olive striped one sold at Clothes Horse I still need to beg over there and check.

Mom's vest is almost done. the sides have been sewn together. Just the back of the collar and the top of the back to sew together. January 11 finished Mom's vest

So now I've started work on  the Cozy Caccoon shrug from Knit picks. Mom and I had gone into the stash looking for yarn to try out a new pattern and found the kit for the shrug from some years ago. When I said I would knit it as my first sweater.

Panic, no don't panic

So I was spinning saturday night and the drive band on my wheel broke. So yesterday I tried measuring to see if I could get it tied back together and no such luck. So after searching found a forum talking about cotton and nylon twine. Remembered we had some twine in the kitchen from working in the garden and a little cooking. Found it matched it to the broken drive band cut it a bit longer then ... a new drive band. Tried my wheel and it is working fine.

On and Off the Needles

Finished the other of the cabled fingerless gloves in the Socks that Rock Vintage and Cascade Kid Seta. And started the pair in Dragon Dance for my Aunt Doris.

Behind the Wheel

So for Christmas got a Wooley Winder. No more having to stop and change hooks while spinning. Got some gray spun up. (I need to keep track of fiber content when I spin more) got that on one of my regular bobbins and now. I"m spinning a wool, alpaca and mohair blend. dark brown or black with red green and yellow blended in.

Add the Stash
While checking on what I had on consignment, found one pair had sold. Also bought another colorway in the socks that Rock, Black Magic might be another pair of fingerless gloves and might try designing my own pattern in it. I am thinking cables.

The Write Life
I am trying to edit and add to my NaNoWriMo 2012 novel some more as part of doing WriYe (write yearly) Also need to work on Camp NaNo novel. Need to read them to get back in the mood.

One Down, Nine to Go

On and Off the Needles
Well finished the first pair of fingerless gloves for the Etsy shop. and started on the second. A two color  pair with some stranding work. It will be the first time I do something like this so should be interesting to see how I do. Might have to go check out a book from the library to help but hey it's an excuse to get out.

Behind the Wheel
Well spun up some more of the white wool on my drop spindle and even plied it a little bit. Still have to finish the BFL and silk to ply but I look forward to it.

The Write Life
Well the writing is coming a bit slow. But did have some inspiration so that might push me up to the daily word count for Julnowrimo.

Etsy and Writing

Well didn't make 50k words in June but still writing away on the novel while trying to work on an outline for August's Camp Nanowrimo. Also sort of using june's novel for July Nowrimo.
so went whit water rafting, walking in caves in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, along with swimming in the worlds largest hot springs swimming pool. Wouldn't mind going there to swim int he winter with snow falling around me. What a cool thing that would be.

Also my little sister is talking about me doing an Etsy shop again. this time she' putting a little more pressure on me. To try and have 10 things knit up to sell by the first of September. hat, fingerless gloves and scarfs, though mom has also found a vest and shrug pattern. So I am working on the first pair of fingerless gloves with some Lion Brand Sock Ease that we got a t JoAnn's. Then there's more yarn for patterned gloves from the one magazine we got on vacation. nicely enough also got a DVD that shows how to spin up qiviut fur along with silk, yak, and other luxury fibers.

On and Off the Needles
Well almost done with mom's vest. mine is still a ways off. started on a pair of fingerless gloves for the Etsy shop.

Behind the wheel
spun up some more of the silk and wool, but a bit thinner so with still some more to spin up. might see about spinning up that first bobbin a littl thinner if I can.

Ughhh

The first half of the second pair of Mom's fingerless gloves

The first half of the first pair.
On and Off the needles
Well finished the second pair of fingerless gloves for mom. And now working on two vests one for me and the other for mom. Mom's seems to be going faster than mine with stockinet stitch but that could be from the knit row purl row. while mine is garter stitch, so row after row of knit stitch.

Behind the Wheel
BFL and silk spun up. Just loved the white and tan.

The green already plied in the fall on my niddy noddy.
So finally got my wheel down from where it was over the winter to ply up what was left of the green singles be it two ply or navajo ply when one single ran out. Then spun up some Blue Faced Leister and silk that I got at Bazaar Girls. Still have some that I will spin and then ply with what is pictured above and knit it. Might have to get some more.

The Write Life
Well its' summer. Time for Camp NaNoWriMo again. It's a bit hard with writing Transformer FanFic with my best friends. I'm going to have to put a stop to that. We seem to spend all day doing that. I want to get my 50,000 words in 30 days. and to think I still have vacation with the family along with my knitting and spinning which requires time away from the computer. maybe stop writing at 8 pm. to work on other things.
And it does not help that my little Ford Escort will not start. Dad got it a new battery a few weeks ago, the last time it did that.  and just thinking about it has me anxious. maybe neighbor will drive me around to run errands, groceries, bank, etc. and was planning on going to library and goodwill to look at books. if I can tear myself away from the computer and walk to the store might be good.

Idea for valentine's day story

Half of mom's fingerless gloves done. Isn't it pretty?

On and Off the Needles
Working on the Wedge socks from Cookie A's book Knit Sock Love for Mom out of Socks that Rock Taos. Also working on a pair of fingerless gloves for her since she said she wanted a pair that is light like mine. She picked out this wonderful yarn with yellows, orange and greens. I did get some longer needles, cause some of the stitches were falling off when I was working on the thumb gusset. And there will be more yarn left over for me to make more pairs and maybe try a few different ideas out.

The Write Life
I was just reading the romance newsletter at Writing.com. It was talking about Valentine's Day of course and talked about what do you do on that do. What do I do I don't have anyone unless you count my family and friends. So I have a story idea I will use to write on Valentine's day. Title: Kill Cupid. Someone sad and depressed but magical who can see Cupid when he comes out and about to do his job of shooting arrows to connect two people. Tries killing Cupid but magical laws allow him to stay alive. So Cupid and the person get to talking about why the person is single and alone.

I had hoped to successfully kill him but then I got to thinking about him having a point of view and some things to tell my protagonist and maybe in a way me.
